3 Reasons Interactive Quizzes Are Great Lead Magnets

(This post contains affiliate links)

If you’re like me, then you get sucked into quizzes on Facebook pretty easily. #SorryNotSorry. It’s not that I think quizzes such as “What Celebrity Are You the Most Like?” or “What Colour is Your Aura?” are scientifically accurate, it’s because of the fun and break from reality they provide. Let’s face it, if you get a result saying that you’re most like Kim Kardashian or Brad Pitt, it can put a pep in your step whether it is true or not. But why are we so compelled to take a quiz when we see one? We’ll touch on this as you read along.

Quizzes are starting to quietly dominate in the marketing world. In the past few months, I’ve seen ads relating to using quizzes as lead magnets. If you’re not familiar with the term “lead magnet”, DigitalMarketer.com defines it as “an irresistible bribe offering a specific chunk of value to a prospect in exchange for their contact information”. Lead magnets can come in many forms as well – including free video trainings, free ebooks or checklists. As a business owner, building your email list should be one of your priorities and using an interactive quiz is one way to do so.

Interact, one of the popular quiz publishers, states that quizzes have an average of 50% conversion rates for lead generation. This means that half of the people who start a quiz will opt-in to your email list. That’s not too shabby. Actually, it’s pretty darn good. Using Interact, I myself have been able to gain ground with building my email list, whereas in the past I was struggling. In today’s digital world, cutting through the noise can be an insurmountable challenge and quizzes can provide the impetus your business needs to attract and convert potential customers.

I’m sure you’re wondering, what makes quizzes so great – so here are three reasons interactive quizzes can be great lead magnets.

1. Quizzes Attract Your Audience

As I said earlier, most of us are compelled to take quizzes when we come across them online. Whether it’s quizzes that tell you more about your personality or that test your knowledge in a specific area. In a Huffington Post article from a few years ago, titled – This is Why Those Online Personality Quizzes are So Irresistible – a Psychologist by the name of Robert Simmerson, Ph.D stated that “quizzes give the illusion of authenticity, and they “reinforce a sense of ourself, whether it has any legitimacy or not.” As human beings we are drawn to things that bring more self-awareness or give us a sense of belonging and quizzes are one of the tools that can provide both of those feelings. Because of its attractiveness, this is one lead magnet that can be tailor made to fit your business goals and address the needs of your audience.

2. Quizzes Convert Your Audience

If you’ve ever read my blog, I pretty much preach about building an email list. Whether you’re a small business owner or solopreneur there is no better way to nurture your potential clients than to convert them by adding them to your email list. If you’re heavy on social media usage, it’s a great idea to create a quiz that your followers would love, post it on your profile and direct them to your website. Above we stated that quizzes have an average conversion rate of 50% and I myself have seen a 48.7% conversion rate on the quizzes I have created through Interact. This has helped me to create an email list of people who are certain to want to hear from me and what I have to offer. Not only do email lists give you the opportunity to nurture potential clients but it can act as a safeguard should your social profiles stop performing up to your expectations. We don’t have any control over what social platforms do and how they choose to manage their business but we do have control over any email list we decide to build for our businesses.

3. Quizzes Provide Value, Entertainment + Education

Being serious all the time can put a damper on the connection you have with your audience and creating a quiz is a great way to have fun with them. Depending on what you create, ensure that is provides value by speaking directly to their pain points or problems. Ensure that it’s entertaining so that they have fun while they’re doing it and that it’s educational so they leave more knowledgeable than when they first came.

If you’re stuck on what to create for a lead magnet, you can give quizzes a try. Interact makes the process super easy by having a quiz template library spanning a majority of industries and topics. You can choose a template or create one from scratch. The choice is yours.
